The current CRIS system is not user-friendly when I'm adding new publications. How will the new CRIS help me to add these details?

Answer

We want to ensure that things are as automated as possible for our researchers, so you don't have to put all the information in yourselves if we can help it. Where you do need to submit details, we are aiming for the process to be as quick and simple as possible. We will be using various data sources such as SCOPUS and Web of Science to draw in data, as well as researchers’ ORCID accounts. ORCID will be particularly useful for providing publication information for staff who have joined Cranfield and want to list their work in their profile. This has always been tricky and very time-consuming in the current system!

The new CRIS also provides the ability for you to nominate another member of staff to add information to your record on your behalf.

In addition, there will also be a small number of system Admins who will have the power to monitor, enquire, suggest, and change information where necessary. But the ideal is that you have the control and ease of access to do it for yourselves. We will be providing training for everyone early next year (2024) to help get you started.
